James Upson joins leading video adtech company Teads as UK International MD

London – 30TH MARCH 2015 – Teads, the fastest-growing international online video advertising company, today announced the appointment of James Upson as UK Managing Director International. Upson, former Chief Operating Officer at MediaCom South Africa, will operate from Teads’ EMEA headquarters in London and will be responsible for fulfilling the demand from UK-based brands for video ad campaigns with global scale and reach.

Teads is at the forefront of digital’s fastest growing ad sector, with a staggering $11.4 billion set to be spent on video advertising in 20161. Teads is capitalising on this growth with its award-winning2inRead format that creates premium video inventory outstream within existing editorial content. James is one of 180 new hires planned for 2015, as the video advertising leader expands into new markets including Brazil, South Korea, Japan and Russia with £20million recently secured funding.

Upson brings considerable experience to the team having previously worked as Chief Operating Office at MediaCom South Africa and Global Business Director at AOL. His extensive expertise will ensure Teads’ clients can target consumers on a global scale with engaging video ad formats which are both viewable by design and enable premium publishers to monetise their content.

Developing a network of publishers and advertisers

Teads already has strong relationships with publishers and works with the world’s biggest agencies to deliver award-winning online video campaigns. This new executive appointment will continue to expand Teads’ partnerships with agencies and advertisers.

Teads has worked on award winning viral video campaigns such as Evian’s Baby and Me and with the world’s biggest brands including Cartier, Breitling, Nestlé, Volkswagen, Heineken, Microsoft and Samsung. Its network of premium publishers includes The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Reuters and Forbes.

Teads already has 420 employees across 25 offices worldwide and achieved estimated revenue of close to £63.5million in 2014, an increase of 65% on 2013 (£38.6 million).

Upson will work closely with an experienced global leadership team including SVP International Sales Jeremy Arditi, Executive Chairman Pierre Chappaz, CEO Bertrand Quesada, COO Christophe Parcot, Chief Strategic Officer (CSO) Loic Soubeyrand.
