As we continue to celebrate women in the workplace, our next Rising Star is Melisa Jones. Melisa is the Marketing Manager in the United Kingdom and is constantly striving for greatness. Congratulations Melisa!
1. Tell us about your journey to, and within, Teads:
After graduating in 2015, I was working agency-side as a media buyer. Alongside this, I was working with a friend on a finance blog overseeing all marketing activities and content. Fast forward 18 months or so, I was eager to pursue my full-time career in marketing. Already aware of Teads as an agency partner, I was determined and ready for the career move. I joined Teads in March 2017 as the new UK Marketing Assistant. Unaware of what the next 12 months would bring I was ready for a challenge! It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the amazing, hard-working people in the UK team.
2. What does being a rising star mean to you?
I’m really happy to be recognized for my contributions over the last year. There is still so much to learn and areas I can develop. I am humbled to think that even though I work within a small local team, I am making an impact on the wider business. For me, a rising star also means that I have the opportunity to evolve, solidifying my position to support the business in the best way possible.
3. What woman inspires you and why?
A woman who despite challenges (albeit personal or professional) continues to rise and push forward past the obstacles. Someone who shares their knowledge and wisdom to create foundations for the women of tomorrow.
4. If you could go back and give your teenage self advice for the future, what would it be?
Never doubt your capabilities, your self-worth is invaluable. Always be curious and continue asking questions, even if you think they’re stupid. Continue learning and do not aspire for anything less than what you deserve, no matter what you decide to pursue as a career or in life – hard work pays off! Be your own cheerleader, stay motivated and focused.
5. What is the most memorable piece of advice you ever received?
“Life is too short to have regrets. Put yourself and your happiness first.”
6. Within the next year, what do you wish to accomplish?
After my recent promotion, I would like to continue growing in this new role, developing my skills and become more of a marketing expert. I want to be a part of Teads continued success and help fulfill the strategy, through the implementation of strong marketing activations.
7. What is your biggest wish/hope for the next generation of successful women?
To break down barriers in society, and not be afraid to follow their passion and use their voice. To not be intimidated by challenges, embrace them and continue solving problems. To build stronger communities within our industry and in our everyday lives. There is always something we can learn from others and we should help each other feel empowered.
